The training aims to build home visitors’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes by exploring how to use empathy in the process of Staff Retention and recognizing its meaning and purpose in Reflective Supervision. Key concepts covered include understanding and using empathy to build relationships and facilitate change, practicing empathic and reflective listening skills, discussing and demonstrating the OARS skills (Open Questions, Affirmations, Reflections, Summaries), and understanding the importance of engagement. Objectives
By the end of this training, Home Visitors will:
•Recognize the meaning and purpose of empathy.
•Understand how to use empathy to engage in the process of building relationships.
•Practice skills for empathic listening and reflecting.
•Discuss the meaning of OARS and demonstrate skills in each component
