As individuals going into the homes of families and helping with child and family development you will have relationships with families that are special and able to see first-hand how a child is developing. Home visitors play an important role in recognizing early signs of autism spectrum disorder and guiding the family towards getting help if concerned about the child not meeting developmental milestones. Objectives

By the end of this training, Home Visitors will be able to:
  • Understand what Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is & recognize the early warning signs
  • Describe the importance of referring children to their Primary Care Physician for Early
  • Intervention and following-up services as soon as a developmental issue is suspected
  • Support parents by providing helpful resources
