The safety of a home visitor is as important as the work they do. Home visits are conducted in client homes and typically done solo. Home visitors should take action to educate, prepare, and protect themselves from potentially dangerous situations, as well as, know how to diffuse, and get away from unsafe circumstances if confronted. Objectives

By the end of this training Home Visitors will be able to:
•Plan, prepare, and carryout safe practices at a home visit
•Identify what predators look for in a target
•Employ the necessary procedures to reduce tension, identify imminent danger, and protect themselves if a predator becomes aggressive
•Understand the need for boundaries, and set healthy, professional boundaries between themselves and the families they serve
