The National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome says, “It only takes a few seconds to change lives forever.” Shaken Baby Syndrome is a family .and community tragedy. It robs a child of a healthy, normal life and cause’s devastation among all family members – the child victim, parents and siblings. Parents must either cope with the death of a child or care for a child with severe disabilities. Home visitors can play a key role in reinforcing prevention through helping parents understand the dangers of violently shaking a baby, the risk factors and the triggers for it, and ways to reduce stress and frustration. All of which may help to reduce the number of children impacted by Shaken Baby Syndrome. Revised June 2019. MOD020
