Social emotional development is an essential part of a child’s overall health and well-being. Social emotional development the first five years of life sets a precedent and prepares children to be successful throughout life. Home visitors can support the social emotional development process in many ways, including directly interacting with young children, communicating and modeling skills for parents, educating parents on the importance of social emotional development, and encouraging the parents to take an active role in improving their child’s social emotional health. Objectives

By the end of this training Home Visitors will be able to:
•Define social emotional development and express the significance of it
•Explain the importance of play in social emotional development
•Apply strategies to support social emotional development of children birth up to age.
•Provide information to parents that will help them understand the importance of social and  emotional well-being and development, as well as,
assist parents in facilitating their child’s  social emotional development
